We welcomed the Lancashire side to the Joie Stadium, hoping to make it to a third successive final in the historic competition.
Having won it in 2023/24 and finished runners up last time out, another opportunity to add to our four previous triumphs lay in front of us.
We’d already defeated Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and Fulham to make it this far.
Meanwhile, Blackburn were in the last four for the first time since 2012 and seeking just a second ever trophy after going all the way in 1959.
City could go in with confidence after comprehensive victories home and away in the U18 Premier League, but we knew that would count for little come kick-off.
