Liverpool’s victory over Watford in the early kick off saw City go into the game second – and unusual position for us. The last time we ended a day off top spot was December 3, so the pressure was on.
But City were excellent. Our possession game and the quality and speed of our passing was exceptional and Burnley really struggled to contain us.
Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan got the goals – both of which were beautifully worked – with Raheem Sterling assisting each of them.
Couple of interesting stats to sweep up. Gundogan is now the top scoring German in Premier League history. No player has ever taken more points from their first 100 Premier League appearances than Aymeric Laporte. And Raheem Sterling has now scored or assisted 200 City goals. No one has contributed direct goal involvements for the club since his arrival in 2015.
After the game we heard from Pep Guardiola and Ilkay Gundogan – and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Paul Dickov and Shaun Goater.
