A quickfire first half double from Luca Barrington and Rico Lewis, plus a late strike from Joel Ndala handed City’s U18s a deserved 3-0 victory over Manchester United at the City Football Academy.
It was a dream start to Ben Wilkinson’s tenure as Under-18s lead coach and the perfect way for our young blues to kickstart their title defence.
Dire Mebude was close to giving City the lead inside 10 seconds, forcing a smart save from United’s Radek Vetek, and was instrumental once again in our opening strike, combining with Nico O’Reilly before squaring for Barrington at the far post.
The second followed just three minutes later, Lewis smashing a powerful drive in at the near post after creating a pocket of space on the right of the box.
And the scoring was completed by Ndala soon after his introduction from the bench, the forward tapping home after Mebude forced a smart save from Vetek.
