It was 11 years ago to the day that Roberto Mancini’s side fought back from a goal down to become the first side in Premier League history to win 20 consecutive home games.
The Italian recalled Carlos Tevez, who made his first appearance for six months, as City reduced Manchester United’s lead at the top of the table to one point in what proved to be the most dramatic of title races.
Tevez came off the bench with City trailing to Gary Cahill’s deflected effort, though Michael Essien’s handball allowed Sergio Aguero to level from the penalty spot.
With five minutes remaining, Tevez combined with Samir Nasri, who collected his slide-rule pass and fired past Petr Cech to send the home fans wild.
