A second half brace from Erling Haaland was enough to secure a thoroughly deserved victory for City against a dogged Everton.
It was a 10th consecutive victory for Pep Guardiola‘s side and maintained the sense of momentum surrounding the reigning champions.
For more than 70 minutes Everton’s dogged determination had kept City at bay.
But, as so often since he joined City, Haaland proved to be the decisive game changer.
First the Norwegian drilled home a brilliant 71st minute strike for what was his first goal since his return from a near two-month injury lay-off.
Then five minutes from time, Haaland struck again, latching onto Kevin De Bruyne‘s inviting through ball before despatching a crisp finish past Toffees keeper Jordan Pickford to seal another precious three points.
