Indeed, while Leicester were yet to hit the levels they’d reached en route to winning the FA Cup and coming within a whisker of top four qualification the season before, they came into the Boxing Day tie on the back of a 4-0 win over Newcastle United.
They had also left the Etihad Stadium in the previous season’s fixture with a 5-2 win, but a devastating attacking display from City ensured they wouldn’t repeat the trick.
