We headed down to Birmingham to face the WSL 2 leaders in the competition’s quarter-final, having found out before the match that the winner would face Chelsea in the semis.
City got to this stage of the competition after beating another WSL 2 team, Sheffield United, last time out in the FA Cup, and Andreé Jeglertz’s side ran out comfortable 4-0 winners at the Joie Stadium on that occasion.
Birmingham came into the game having gone to the summit of the WSL 2 last midweek thanks to a late Lilly Crosthwaite strike against Sunderland, so confidence was high at St. Andrew’s.
And there was the sense of a potential classic FA Cup battle in the midlands - so who came out on top?
