The Blues travelled to Bromley aiming to extend our winning run in the WSL to 12 matches.
Chelsea’s defeat to Arsenal the day before also presented Andrée Jeglertz’s side with a chance to extend our lead at the top of the table to nine matches with a victory.
However, the hosts weren’t there to simply make up the numbers and were keen to end a three-match winless run in the WSL.
Promoted as WSL 2 champions last season, London City were enjoying their first home match under new manager Eder Maestre and came into the tie looking to make an impression.
But we were bolstered by the return of Kerolin to the starting XI and Sydney Lohmann to the matchday squad ahead of kick-off, while new signing Sam Coffey was also named among the substitutes.
