The visitors, meanwhile, had reserved their best form for the Cup competitions having beaten Bristol Rovers and Brighton to reach the last eight stage.
This was our third meeting with the Villans this season, with City coming out on top in both league fixtures.
However, our opponents opened the scoring on both occasions before the Blues fought back to claim victory, so another closely-fought contest was on the cards.
