A second half brace from Lauren Hemp ensured City signed off for 2023 at the Joie Stadium with a 2-1 triumph over Aston Villa.
The visitors had taken an early lead through Danielle Turner’s impressive hooked finish, but Gareth Taylor‘s side continued to press for the advantage.
It came just after the hour when Hemp met Chloe Kelly‘s searching cross from the right with a powerful header.

The game was turned on its head soon after, as City’s pressure told.
And it was our number 11 who was once again in the right place at the right time to poke home Alex Greenwood‘s knockdown and secure all three points at the Joie Stadium.
The win saw City move up to second in the WSL table, for 24 hours at least, and ensured we maintained our impressive record of just one home defeat across the calendar year.
