Chelsea, meanwhile, were aiming to bounce back from a defeat to Arsenal - meaning all roads led to an exciting clash at the Etihad.
And although the result wouldn’t decide the destination of the WSL title - three points for City would boost our hopes of winning the championship by the season’s end.
