It was a near-perfect display. City, led by the genius of Phil Foden, were sharp, inventive and creative. Brugge struggled to get the ball off us and we are now in a very strong position to qualify from Group A.
Both full-backs scored – has that happened for City before? – Mahrez got two and Cole Palmer’s dream week continued when he became only the third teenager to score in the Champions League for City (the others of course being Foden and Kelechi Iheanacho).
Palmer came off the bench for the first team in Saturday’s win over Burnley in the Premier League, before hot footing it over to the Academy Stadium where he scored a hat-trick in our Premier League 2 game against Leicester – and now he has a goal in Europe’s elite club competition. He is a star in the making and this was a week he will never forget.
After the game, we heard from scorer of the opening goal Joao Cancelo, as well as the mastermind of it all Pep Guardiola – and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Andy Morrison and Richard Dunne.
