On this edition of the Man City Podcast, we are joined by Sven Goran-Eriksson - one of football’s preeminent figures in the 90s and 2000s.

As manager of Manchester City in the 2007-08 season, he drastically improved our playing style, brought in some quality players and was a wonderful statesman who represented the club with dignity.

Gothenburg, Benfica, Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Lazio, England, Manchester City, Mexico, Notts County, Ivory Coast, Leicester City and more… Sven has one of the most storied careers in the game.

His incredible success at Gothenburg, where he took part-time players to a European trophy, catapulted him into some of the biggest jobs in world football. His most successful periods came at Benfica and Lazio - in fact his Lazio side was one of the greatest club sides we’ve ever seen.

He’s a huge character in the game.

This interview forms part of a larger project. CITY+ subscribers can watch a full documentary about Sven’s year in charge right now, which includes contributions from Nedum Onuoha and Elano, amongst others.
