The Blues welcomed the Londoners to the Joie Stadium looking to make it four wins in a row in all competitions.
After losing on the opening day to Chelsea, City had beaten Brighton, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton and knew another win would propel them up to second in the WSL table for a few hours at least.
Yui Hasegawa made her 100th appearance for City in the fixture, with Andrée Jeglertz making five changes from the side who beat Everton 3-1 in the League Cup earlier in the week.

Standing in our way were a London City Lionesses side looking for a third-straight win of their own after beating the Toffees in the WSL and Crystal Palace in their League Cup opener.
The visitors also boasted a few familiar faces in their squad, including former Blues Alanna Kennedy, Kosovare Asllani and Nikita Parris.
Could we get the win and keep up our excellent run of form?
