It was first hosting third in the Premier League table as we faced the impressive Seagulls at the Etihad with a traditional 15:00 (UK) kick-off.
It was the second time this week we’d faced Fabian Hürzeler’s side, having beaten them on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup via a penalty shoot-out.
The Blues are flying high at the summit of the top-flight table after seven wins to start the campaign before a tight loss at Aston Villa in our latest Premier League encounter.
Meanwhile, Hürzeler’s team are right up there courtesy of strong performances and strong results - five victories, one draw and two losses, the wins coming against Crystal Palace, Sunderland, Arsenal, Coventry and Aston Villa.
Maresca and Hürzeler would have been eager for three points to continue the momentum of the opening weeks of the campaign.
