City climbed to second in the league table as we secured a crucial three points over Emma Hayes’ side at the Academy Stadium.
Gareth Taylor’s side were in the ascendency for large portions of the opening exchanges and deservedly took the lead when Filippa Angeldahl sensationally lobbed Ann-Katrin Berger from just inside the box on 21 minutes.
Lauren Hemp then doubled our advantage shortly after when she expertly fizzed the ball into the top corner after a neat lay off by Laura Coombs.
We were unable to add to our lead in the second half, but the celebrations at the final whistle demonstrated the importance of the victory for Gareth Taylor‘s side.
