Lifelong City fan Dr Gary is an Honorary Research Fellow at De Montfort University and a veritable encyclopaedia when it comes to sky blue matters.
It’s the perfect time to talk to him as we this week celebrate ‘Maine Road 100’ – the anniversary of our first ever game played at our iconic old ground.
For that milestone moment, Dr Gary has written two wonderful pieces for the official website – an article on the origins of the name Maine Road and a review of that debut encounter against Sheffield United in 1923.
