An all-time Champions League classic. Manchester City 4-3 Real Madrid, with more of the same likely next week at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It was a breath-taking night at the Etihad on Tuesday as City beat Real Madrid in our semi-final first leg. Quite how we will only go to Spain with a one-goal lead is anyone’s guess. City were far superior.

It was a pulsating match – one which was impossible to take your eyes off.

City raced a two-goal lead – the first time in Champions League history Real Madrid had conceded two in the opening 11 minutes of a game – before Karim Benzema halved the deficit before half time.

Phil Foden made it 3-1 and became only the second English player to score in a Champions League semi-final before the age off 22, before Vinicus Jnr again got one back for Real.

Bernardo Silva made it 4-2 before Benzema struck again.

After the game, we heard from Pep Guardiola and Ruben Dias – and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Shaun Goater and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
