In what was the final match of our initial league phase, Pep Guardiola’s side played host to the Turkish giants knowing we needed a victory in an effort to try and secure a ticket through to the top eight and with it a place in the Round of 16.
A top eight finish would also avoid the need for a two-legged play-off tie in February.
However, pitted against a star-studded Galatasaray side featuring former City favourites Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane it promised to be a demanding task.
