But, with the game on a knife-edge, it was Sonia Bompastor’s team who just edged it in the end when a cross deflected off Yui Hasegawa and found the back of the net.
It was a frustrating way to close out the showpiece clash but will have given Cushing and his players plenty of heart going into the next trio of games against the Londoners.
