Manuel Pellegrini’s side travelled to Italy for the final match of the group stage needing a positive result against AS Roma to seal qualification for the Round of 16.
Bayern Munich were safely through as group winners while we were level on points with the hosts but with a superior goal difference. That meant that at least a point was necessary if we were to progress.

Pablo Zabaleta’s 86th minute strike doubled our advantage and effectively sealed the victory, sparking wild celebrations on the pitch and in the stands.
