An early own goal and Marc Guéhi’s first strike in a City shirt saw us safely into the hat for the fifth round of the historic competition.
It wasn’t a vintage City performance, but the Blues got the job done against Karl Robinson’s League Two promotion chasers.
Things got off to a great start when Alfie Dorrington deflected Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross into his own goal in just the sixth minute.
But the visitors grew into it after that, forcing James Trafford into a couple of handy saves either side of half time.
A raft of changes followed and eventually earned us the clincher, with Guéhi reacting quickest to a Rayan Cherki cross and tapping in with just less than 10 minutes to go.
That’s how it stayed, as City ensured we continue to fight on four fronts this season.
