Having dropped points in our draw and defeat to Leeds and Derby respectively in recent weeks, Oliver Reiss’ side travelled to Liverpool knowing a win is key in order to maintain our place at the league summit.
And it didn’t take long for City to establish a foothold, with Teddie Lamb converting the second of two penalties to give our young boys in blue the lead on 15 minutes.

The remainder of the first half flew by, with both teams finding more chances to find the back of the net. The best opportunity fell to the hosts, with City shot stopper denying Prince Cisse’s header to maintain our lead at the break.
Liverpool continued to pile on the pressure in the second half. And after weathering the Reds’ storm, City found a deserved second.
Dante Headley headed home Reigan Heskey’s cross before substitute Xavier Parker made it three with just over 15 minutes left to play.
The victory in Merseyside means City remain top of the North table with seven games to go.
