City twice came from behind in a pulsating last eight clash, which booked a date with Crystal Palace or Manchester United at the Joie Stadium next weekend.
The hosts took the lead inside two minutes when Bradley-Paul Burrowes found the net on the rebound, but the Blues responded soon after through a close-range Mamad Sangare header.

Ben Wilkinson’s side were starting to gain a foothold in the game up until half-time, but found ourselves behind again soon after the restart when Luka Lynch found the top corner on the counter attack.
Once again, though, City responded defiantly and were level when Floyd Samba calmly slotted home with an hour gone.
And just five minutes later the turnaround was complete, with Kaiden Braithwaite picked out by an excellent Charlie Gray pass in behind the Villa defence.
The defender met the cross with a clinical first-time volley, which snuck in off the near post to hand our Young Blues a deserved victory.
