It took an added-time winner from Seb Naylor and an organised team of nine on-field players when the full-time whistle blew for City to snatch the three points and extend our winning run to 10 successive Premier League 2 games.
The Seagulls proved to be City’s toughest test yet as we push to stay top of the league summit. And the determination and tenacity of Wilkinson’s squad really caught his eye in the thrilling 90 minutes.
“Yeah, it was a difficult game” began Wilkinson.
MATCH REPORT | CITY 2-1 BRIGHTON
“I thought Brighton were really good, posed us a lot of problems technically and tactically. I felt like we looked a bit short of a game physically as well. We looked a little bit like we hadn’t played for four weeks in terms of just our intensity and the way we try to do things.
“Lots for us to talk about and improve performance wise but I’m pleased with the character and the grit the boys showed at times when the game was going against us.
“And to score like that late on when you’ve got 10 men is always a great way to finish a game.
“But pleased in terms of the mindset of the players to try and score and try and win the game and try to be positive.
“When we look back there will be lots for us to look and at and get better but lots of positives to take.”
