City’s Elite Development Squad beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 on Monday evening courtesy of goals from Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Divin Mubama.
It was our first clean sheet in all competitions since November when City beat Norwich City 5-0 at the Joie Stadium.
And with goal difference likely to play a part in the final league standings before the knockout stage of the competition, no goals conceded was undoubtedly a confidence boost for Wilkinson’s side.
MATCH REPORT | CITY EDS 2-0 SPURS
“It [a clean sheet] was very important,” began Wilkinson.
“We’ve worked a lot defensively all season, we should have had a clean sheet in the last game at Blackburn and I think it’s something we want to get back to.
“We’ve probably conceded too many goals for our liking since Christmas without having too many problems things have just gone against us.
“But ultimately if we can keep clean sheets I think we will win a lot of games.”
