Elite Development Squad Lead Coach Ben Wilkinson says his team have the belief we can beat anyone on home soil.

His statement follows a clinical 3-0 win over Norwich in our final League Phase match in the Premier League 2 with goals from Christian McFarlane, Matty Warhurst and Sverre Nypan extending our unbeaten league run on home soil to over a year.

It also sees us complete this season’s League Phase unbeaten on home, winning nine of our 10 matches at the Joie Stadium.

And for Wilkinson, our home form has been a welcomed boost of confidence for the team as our attention now turns to our Round of 16 tie, which will take place at the Joie.

“I think having been here for a long time I understand that over the years I think we’ve been really strong here,” began Wilkinson.

“The two years I’ve been with the EDS I think we had 14 home games last year and 10 this year. I think we lost one in that time.

“So we always believe we can beat anyone here. Some of the things that the level we had for example at Derby and you try to overcome those away games, we don’t tend to have here.

“We always enjoy playing here, we know the surroundings, we feel comfortable here and we know if we turn up and give our best version of ourselves we have a chance of performing well and winning.”
