EDS head coach Brian Barry-Murphy sounded a special salute to his players after our historic third straight PL2 title.

Sunday’s 3-0 win at Blackburn sealed the crown for our Under-21s – and City fittingly achieved it in thrilling and dominant fashion with a Carlos Borges brace and Dire Mebude penalty clinching the points.

And for head coach Barry-Murphy, who has overseen two of of our three straight league triumphs – it was the perfect way to seal the deal.

“It’s an amazing day for the players and fitting reward for the work they have put in across the season,” Barry-Murphy declared.

“I said to the players it’s not the wining that has impressed me – it’s the way we have done it.

“I was able to switch off near the end the end of the game and just admire our play as they deserved that.

“I was just a big fan of the way we played today.

“To play with such style in such an important game was so impressive and some of our play in the first hour was exhilarating.

“The players and all the staff deserve to be congratulated on such a magnificent achievement.”
