Manchester City's Elite Development Squad head coach Brian Barry-Murphy was beaming with pride after his players recorded a strong 3-1 win over second-placed Chelsea at the Academy Stadium.

Goals from Oscar Bobb, Kian Breckin and Carlos Borges sealed an important win for our EDS, with Leo Castledine’s late strike a consolation for the visitors.

And the success has put us to within touching distance of another Premier League 2 title.

Just one win from our final three games will all-but seal a third successive championship thanks to our sizeable goal difference over Crystal Palace, who can also reach 53 points.

It would also represent a second for Barry-Murphy, who was delighted with his players’ performance levels at the home.

“We spoke at halftime the level of test is probably the most difficult we have faced at home this season,” he said.

“To overcome that, bearing in mind how dangerous the opponents are, is amazing for the players.

“I thought in the second half our style was everything you would want to see in a team representing our club and our attacking play was very incisive when needed.”
