After winning the Premier League 2 league phase trophy earlier in the season, one final piece of silverware was up for grabs for Ben Wilkinson’s side to complete what has been an already fantastic campaign for the youngsters.
And after overcoming Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United in the play-offs, City saw off Southampton with a 2-0 win in the final on Thursday evening to win the PL2 title.
EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS | CITY 2-0 SOUTHAMPTON
It was Gray’s first time winning the PL2 title, and it was a moment he stated to be a big achievement for him and his teammates after an intense 2024/25.
“It’s always great, everyone loves to win but I think to win both is such a big achievement because to win the league over such a long time you’ve got to stay consistent and to top the league was great,” said Gray.
“And then the play-offs is so hard because you can’t make any mistakes, you’ve got to win every game and we all did well to do that.
“It’s a great feeling. We won the league overall and we knew we could get this far in the play-offs and win it and that’s what we did today. We are all buzzing.
“It’s been a great experience. When you’re on a winning side and playing so well as a whole team it’s great to play in and get on the ball and playing the football we like to play.
“A lot of my team-mates I’ve been with since we were really young, we all know how each other play and I think that helped us get the win today.”
