Two of the best Academy teams in the country took centre stage on Monday evening when City travelled to Kingsmeadow to take on Chelsea. 

After a tense, energetic, end-to-end opening 45 minutes, neither team could break the deadlock.

It was Oliver Reiss’ half-time team talk that paid dividends with City take the lead less than 60 seconds into the second half.

Floyd Samba’s left-footed effort squeezed under Chelsea goalkeeper Freddy Bernal before Dante Headley doubled our lead with a deflected shot from range. 

City continued to pile on the pressure and next to score was 15-year-old Xavier Parker who bagged his second goal in two FA Youth Cup 

Ryan McAidoo then added his name to the scoresheet after an error at the back for Chelsea saw him convert in an empty net to make it four. 

Ryan Kavuma-McQueen scored a late consolation for Chelsea despite City’s best efforts to fight for an equally rewarding clean sheet. 

But it didn’t stop City from confirming our place in the quarter-finals of the prestigious competition.
