For the final time this calendar year, Oliver Reiss’ Under-18s took to pitch eight at the City Football Academy, looking to finish the year on a high against a difficult Everton side.
And the Toffees definitely proved that, with nothing to separate either side come the interval.
The second half, however, was a different affair.

City dominated possession, but Everton found the first goal.
Malik Olayiwola slotted home from close range after winning the ball back in City’s third.
But Reiss’ side remained determined to end the year as strong as possible.
Dante Headley tapped in at the back post four minutes later after Everton failed to clear their lines following a dangerous Christian Dunbar-McDonald cross.
Then, the decisive moment of the match, saw Floyd Samba put City ahead on 74 minutes from the penalty spot.
The midfielder showed maturity and composure as he fired home after winning the penalty.
