In what was City’s toughest Premier League 2 test so far, Ben Wilkinson‘s side showed real grit to grind out a late triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Farid Alfa-Ruprecht‘s deflected shot inside the opening 15 minutes put City ahead.
The first half finished an even affair but with our young boys in blue still ahead on the scoreboard.
But Brighton were quick out the blocks in the second half, catching City’s defence by surprise. Cam Peupion nodded home two minutes into the second 45 minutes to level the score.
The Seagulls enjoyed more of the ball which proved a different test for Wilkinson’s side.
Reduced to 10 after Jaden Heskey was shown a second yellow card, the game looked set to end in a draw as City held strong against a wave of Brighton attacks.
But a quick counter in added time saw Naylor fire home with a minute left to play.
Jacob Wright worked hard to stop the final Seagulls attack but was also, unfortunately, dismissed as City were reduced to nine in the final seconds.
The triumph means Wilkinson’s EDS side have extended our winning form to 10 successive matches in what has been a fantastic campaign so far.
