Ten-man City began our Premier League Under-18 Cup campaign in fine fashion with a deserved 2-0 win over Blackburn.

Ben Wilkinson‘s youngsters were handed the toughest of starts when full-back Kian Noble was shown a straight red card for an early challenge.

However, despite being reduced in numbers, City more than stood up to the challenge and we took a 39th minute lead through Nico O’Reily’s long-range effort.

City stepped up the attacking ante after the break and our efforts were rewarded with a second and decisive goal on 62 minutes from Alfie Harrison.

Rovers sought to summon up a late response but City held firm to get our cup campaign off to the perfect start.
