City Under-18s midfielder Dan Batty says he is ‘buzzing’ to have scored the winning goal in City’s 1-0 FA Youth Cup victory over Crystal Palace on Friday evening.

It was our first game in the competition in the 2024/25 season as City look to defend the title.

The 18-year-old entered the fold on 67 minutes, replacing Finlay Gorman to help provide fresh legs in City’s engine room.

And as Oliver Reiss’s side continued to knock on the door with Palace proving tricky to break down, a clinical moment from Batty on 82 minutes saw him slot home from close range to nudge City ahead.

And it was a magical moment for him following a difficult season the year prior which saw injuries keep him out for most of our FA Youth Cup games in 2023/24.

“Obviously I’m happy with the result, it’s a big win,” said Batty.

“I’m just buzzing to be coming off the bench and making an impact and doing what they [the coaching staff] have asked of me.

“It’s a big competition, we won it last year so it will be good if we can carry that on this year and hopefully win it again.

“We’re all buzzing and excited to see what’s going to happen!”
