2020 has been an incredibly challenging year – but it has been a hugely successful one for Manchester City’s Academy.

Our U18s went the entire 12 months unbeaten, winning the U18 Premier League and the U18 Premier League Cup.

And there was November’s FA Youth Cup triumph – our first success in the competition since 2008.

But perhaps most significantly, a number of our Academy players - Adrian Bernabe, Tommy Doyle, Cole Palmer, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Felix Nmecha – have all played for the first team and trained regularly with Pep and the senior players.

To celebrate our Academy’s finest year to date, Club journalist Neil Leigh sat down with Academy Director Jason Wilcox to reflect on 2020 as a whole.

He discusses the appointments of Enzo Maresca and Carlos Vicens, as well as our style of play and the recent coaching restructure - but also considers the challenges the global health pandemic has presented the Academy setup.
