City Under-18s’ Floyd Samba says Saturday’s 4-2 comeback win over Manchester United in the Under-18 Premier League North was his favourite derby day to date.

Having joined our Academy at Under-9s, Samba has played in countless Manchester derby fixtures.

But our latest outing, which saw City fight from 2-0 down at half-time to win 4-2 against 10-man United, was a personal favourite for Floyd, who got two goals and one assist, and also got to play alongside his brother Tyrone.

MATCH REPORT | UNITED 2-4 CITY

“We’re very very happy because obviously the first half didn’t go as we wanted it to. But we had a good team talk at half-time because the intensity wasn’t there so the second half was much better.

“First half I didn’t really do much, I couldn’t really get on the ball. But in the second half it was much better and managed to get a goal and boost my confidence.

“I’d say maybe the top [derby] because it was a very dramatic game, we went down two goals down but we believed in ourselves to bring it back to 4-2 is brilliant.

“And to contribute was also very nice.”
