Elite Development Squad midfielder Jaden Heskey says City's dramatic extra-time win over Liverpool will act as a confidence booster heading into our quarter-final tie with Arsenal.

Divin Mubama’s brace helped our Under-21s overcome a difficult Liverpool side with City securing a 2-1 victory in our first play-off game of the campaign following our PL2 title win.

Heskey, the player to have accrued the most minutes in the PL2 this season for Ben Wilkinson’s side, was once again at the heart of City’s performance both with tackles and linking up play across the pitch.

And after a tough 120 minutes, in which Heskey continued to show determination and spur on his team-mates, the 19-year-old expressed his delight in the triumph.

“I’m shattered to be fair,” said Heskey with a bright smile.

“We just about got through it in the end and I was confident we’d get a goal. I think in the end we just played our way and that’s how it turned out.

“I think we got over the early nerves. It’s different - we haven’t had this before. We didn’t get to this stage last season.

“Obviously we won the league but then you never know what can happen in the play-offs. And to get through the first one, I think we’ll have a lot more confidence going into the next ones and hopefully we can go all the way.”
