The central defender has been a commanding presence at the heart of the City Under-21s’ back-line.
Captain of the side, Simpson-Pusey’s contribution was further recognised earlier this month when the 19-year was named as the PL2 Player of the Season.
The City youngsters topped the Premier League 2 table across the regular season and booked our place in the showpiece final after hard-fought wins in the play-off stages against Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.
As he looked ahead to Thursday’s final, which will be screened live on CITY+, the skipper said that tough sequence of games had served as the perfect preparation for what should be an absorbing encounter.
“We haven’t played Southampton this season, so we know it’s going to be a tough game for sure,” said Simpson-Pusey.

“We want to win every game, but this is a bit more intense as it’s a final.
“They [the play-off rounds] are not like easy games – they have been definitely tough games, especially the derby in a semi-final.
“It has been a good challenge for us and hopefully we can take that forward into the final.
“To win [the trophy] would be an honour and it would mean so much to the team.”
