City Elite Development Squad defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey detailed how he got City off the mark to help the team best Tottenham Hotspur in our latest Premier League 2 test.

His first goal of the 2024/25 season broke the deadlock early in the second half after a difficult opening 45 minutes against an organised Spurs outfit.

His first-time, impressive half-volley was the key catalyst in City fighting for an important 2-0 win, after Divin Mubama’s penalty doubled City’s lead and put the game out of reach for the visitors.

The result means Ben Wilkinson’s side stays at the top of the league summit with our young boys in blue one step closer to securing a place in the PL2 knockout.

After the game, the 19-year-old centre-back analysed how he came about being in the right place at the right time.

“In the analysis we did we saw that they play a very high line so I was kind of waiting for them to jump up and then time my run in behind,” began Simpson-Pusey.

“And it was a great ball from Charlie. I’m just happy about the goal.

“I didn’t know what to do [with the celebration] I was just happy I scored.”
