Justin Oboavwoduo says City’s 2024/25 UEFA Youth League campaign to date has served as the perfect preparation for Wednesday’s Round of 16 clash away to Hoffenheim.

Oboavwoduo and his Under-19 colleagues are back in European action in Germany this afternoon (13:00 UK) as the City youngsters seek to book our place in the quarter-finals.

Having finished 11th in the composite league format to book our place in the knockout stages, Ben Wilkinson’s side then secured a dramatic 5-4 win on penalties away to FC Midtjylland last month after the Round of 32 tie had finished 2-2 over 90 minutes.

City’s reward is a trip to Hoffenheim and, for his part, Oboavwoduo believes the squad’s experience in Europe has served as the perfect preparation for this latest challenge.

“As a collective we are looking forward to Hoffenheim and I think the games we have played previously in the UEFA Youth League have put us in good stead,” Justin said.

“The UEFA Youth League is one of the competitions where previously we have not done as well as we would have liked to.

“We are determined to try and right the wrongs of that and go as far as possible.

“Hoffenheim are a good side, and we are all excited to go over there.

“I’m sure Hoffenheim will plan for us but we are determined to go out there and try to get a statement win.”
