In our return to league action following City’s 2-1 FA Youth Cup win over Reading at the Joie Stadium, Ben Wilkinson‘s side were looking to extend our winning form to five in all competitions.
And Luca Fletcher‘s first-half strike from close range put City one step closer to achieving that after dominating possession in the opening 45 minutes.
City looked determined to extend our lead early in the second half but to no avail inside the opening five minutes as Liverpool defended well against a barrage of attacks by City’s attacking line.
Then, in the 53rd minute, it was Fletcher again who found the back of the Liverpool net, showing City Under-18s were more than capable of scoring without regular number nine Matty Warhurst.
The hosts battled hard and managed to half their deficit with 15 minutes left to play. Kareem Ahmed’s strike gave Liverpool a glimmer of hope but City’s defensive line, led by Kian Noble, held out to win all three vital points at the title race continues.
