Luca Fletcher says City’s Under-18s winning form is creating a positive environment in the squad and giving him the confidence to score goals.

The striker scored his second goal of the campaign in City’s 5-0 victory over Blackburn in a dominant display in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday.

Fletcher delivered the pick of the goals, with a thunderous strike in the second-half, after capitalising on a misplaced pass.

“To be honest, I just thought I should hit it, but I probably could have crossed it,” the 17-year-old joked. “But I took my chance and it paid off, so it’s good.”

Coming off the back of another international break, Oliver Reiss’ side made it four wins on the bounce, which Fletcher said is breeding confidence from him and the squad and they are looking to kick on.

“It feels really good, it’s good to start playing again and an exciting result for the team overall,” he began.

“I feel like there’s a real buzz between all the players, it’s really good, we’re all playing really well at the moment, so it’s good.

“We’re going to try and carry this on into Christmas and see what happens.

“It’s good when you’ve got players around you having confidence, it gives you the confidence to play well and going to score those goals as well, so it’s refreshing.”
