An 87th minute strike from Reigan Heskey was enough to secure what was a fifth FA Youth Cup triumph overall for City.
A stunning free-kick from Floyd Samba late in the first half had given the Blues youngsters the lead only for United to level almost instantly through Godwil Kukonki.
As both sides strove to find a winner after the break it looked as if an enthralling contest was heading for the drama of extra time.

However, with just three minutes left on the clock, Reigan Heskey produced a moment of individual brilliance, cutting inside the United box before firing home from close range to clinch a memorable 2-1 victory.
It was City’s fifth FA Youth Cup final victory and, fittingly, came almost 40 years on from our maiden 1986 final win which also came against United.
