“It’s a derby and it’s a big game, the two title contenders, so I think it will be a good game.

“I can’t wait, it’s a big derby with a lot of history and I’m very excited.”

The goalkeeper made his Under-18s debut, aged 16, in City’s opening league game against Blackburn Rovers. Brits kept a clean sheet in our 6-0 win on home soil and is looking forward to the prospect of taking on the current league leaders.

United currently sit top of the league having won all 11 fixtures. Wilkinson’s youngsters sit third, with 22 points, but have one game in hand over United and two over second-placed Liverpool.

Ahead of the trip to the other side of Manchester when in asked about preparations ahead of the top-of-the-table clash, Brits explained that City are approaching the game just like any other.

“I think the preparation is the same as any other game even though they are top of the league right now, we’ll prepare for it like any other game and just go out and do what we do,” said Brits.

“I think if we get the win this weekend there will be a lot of pressure on United and things could change quickly [in the league standings].”
