Matty Warhurst says he was delighted to help City earn a point in our 3-3 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers after the team’s tenacity shone through to fight back from a two-goal deficit.

The Premier League 2 clash saw the visitors take a two-goal advantage at the Joie Stadium through a Tawanda Chirewa brace.

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey’s headed goal pulled one back for City before Matty Whittingham restored Wolves’ two-goal lead.

But City showed real determination to earn a point, Josh Adam and Warhurst scoring added time goals to move us off the bottom of the league table.

And City’s number nine, who scored the integral goal to help City earn a point, was delighted to have played a key role in the result.

“I’m delighted. Coming off I was really tired, it was a really tough game but in the 94th minute I think, it was late on, I was ecstatic to score,” said Warhurst.

“I’m just really happy, it’s my first start in the Under-21s and I felt it was a big step up from the Under-18s but I’m happy to score and play well.

“We showed good character and I thought we came back well and kept going and kept pushing and obviously got a draw in the end.”
