After Derby went two goals up through strikes from Owen Eames and Demaine Agustien, Finlay Gorman tapped in at close range to reduce the deficit.
Substitute Ryan McAidoo struck a rocket to square the game before Warhurst thought he’d won it after being in the right place to smash in a rebounded effort.
Tristan Gill dampened the mood after getting the vital touch on the ball after pinball in the City box drew Derby level.
But our No.9 was there again to make the young Rams pay for their error after his turn and shot sent the City bench into bedlam as our Under-18s clinched the title.
And speaking after the game, Warhurst was still feeling the emotion.
“It’s probably hard to put into words,” he began.
“It was a last-minute goal and then I look back and I see about 30 bodies flying towards me, I’m on the floor and then I’m getting squashed, but it was a great feeling and a great goal to top it off as well.
“I was in the right position in the box [for my first goal] as it sat up for me and I put it away.
“At that point you’re thinking that’s the winner and then to see Derby go and score, as a team and individually I kept my head and kept thinking that there’d be one more chance and to stay ready for it and I did.
“The mentality of the team all season has been very good, but especially this game, I think as a team mentally we dug in especially with some tired legs out there towards the end and fought together.”
