Max Alleyne pointed to the importance of City's mean machine of an EDS defence in the wake of Friday’s resounding 5-0 PL2 win at home to Chelsea.

While the headlines went to Divin Mubama after his hat-trick, at the other end Alleyne and his defensive colleague chalked up another impressive shut-out.

And for the classy central defender, the understanding and rapport between the EDS defensive unit is paying rich dividends as the season fast approaches the business end.

“As the season goes on, we get better and better and I think we’re going to get stronger as the season continues,” Alleyne said.

“[In terms of our defence] The more games you play [the better the understanding].

“Jahmai [Simpson-Pusey] and I have played together for three seasons now and the relationship is so good.

“And I feel confident going into every game that we are not going to concede and hopefully we can keep a clean sheet in every game.”
