Oliver Reiss says he and his team are extremely excited for our Manchester derby FA Youth Cup final and feels it will be a special occasion for both clubs.

On Thursday 14 May, kick-off is set for 19:00 (UK) and will see the first Manchester derby FA Youth Cup final in 40 years take centre stage at the Joie Stadium.

Constant rivals in the Under-18 Premier League North, now, City and United will battle it out for the most prestigious trophy in youth football.

With the team hard at work ahead of the all-Manchester final, Reiss detailed the excitement around the fixture and how it is providing the perfect motivation as the squad fine tunes preparations.

“We are really looking forward to it,” said Reiss with a smile.

“I was asked after the semi-final, before the second semi-final was played, who I would like to have in the final and it was Manchester United for me.

“That has nothing to do with football content or quality, it is something special and all of us want to have something special and me the same.

“And the team also when I asked a little bit and discussing with the players so everyone is just looking forward to just playing this game.

“This is the first time in 40 years [City play United in the final] so wow and we have to find a good balance again between enjoying this game and to be focused for the win.”

“I think it will help a lot!”, said Reiss when asked what it will mean to play in front of our fans for the final time this term.

“I mentioned it before, every time we play in the Joie Stadium it is always a great experience for us, playing in front of our fans. It’s exciting.”
