Oliver Reiss says City’s Under-18 Premier League North win is the perfect fuel for his team as we prepare for Monday’s FA Youth Cup final against Aston Villa.

Villa Park will play host to the ‘best two Under-18s teams in the country’ according to Reiss, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 (UK).

If City are triumphant on Monday afternoon, it will be the first time in the Club’s history our Under-18s have won the prestigious FA Youth Cup in back-to-back seasons.

And all of those factors are keeping City focused on one of the biggest games of the campaign.

“You could see the way in which we celebrated [winning the Under-18 Premier League North], nothing is normal. Sometimes you can sometimes have the feeling of being Manchester City and winning games is normal,” Reiss explained.

“But you could see in the way we celebrated it was incredible and I think you can see even more now we are hungry to win this game also and to win this title also.

“I know some of the players were involved last year so maybe it’s a bit more special for them or feel the two-in-a-row more. Others are new and it’s the first time [in the final] and for me it is the first time.

“What it mainly means for us as an Academy is it is proof of the incredible work we are doing here at the Academy.

“So this is one thing you can see reaching the final twice in a row and hopefully winning the trophy twice in a row.”

Whilst the prospect of a trophy lift is motivating Reiss and his team, the Lead Coach also pointed out that they are preparing for an extremely difficult clash with the team working hard the past few days in anticipation for an exciting battle.

“I’m expecting one of the best teams in the country. There are a lot of reasons why they are in the final of the cup final and also they can be at the top of the table in the Premier League South so this is what I’m expecting,” said Reiss.

“They are very good in all the phases of the game and of course playing at home they will use the supporters, the crowd behind them to create an atmosphere which will be an advantage for them.

“But at the same time it is a bigger challenge for us and we want challenges to prove ourselves. So yes, this will probably be the best two Under-18s teams in the country.”

The game will be shown live in the UK on the FA Player and the official Emirates FA Cup Youtube channel.
